Baldness is generally seen as a sign of sexual power. Even in the ancient times. Aristotle was one of them who believed that there was a relation between baldness and being sexually active. However, the research that has been done by the Royal Hospital of Britain shows that this concept is untrue. In this research, both bald and non-bald men were analyzed and in the end it has been proved that there is no correlation between going bald and having sexual power.
The reason why most people think bald men have higher libidos is because of a misunderstanding of the definition of male-pattern hair loss, which is also known as androgenic alopecia. Male pattern baldness is one of the reasons why men lose their hair and it is dependent on Dihydrotestosterone. When testosterone is converted to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the greatest and the most devastating androgen hormone, receptors of hair follicles cannot resist. Therefore, men start losing their hair. Dihydrotestosterone hormone affects the hair growth in a negative way and it lowers the lifecycle of the hair follicles.
In summary, the reason behind the male pattern hair loss is not the high level of testosterone but the level of Dihydrotestosterone and is an inherited condition. The gene can be passed down from one of the parents.
What are the Other Reasons of Going Bald?
Stress: Any kind of trauma can cause hair loss and also when you are under pressure or stressed, you may experience hair loss. Once you feel relaxed again, most probably, shedding more hairs will stop. However, if you have severe stress or low self-confidence, if you are under depression, then hair loss can be permanent or it can make you go bald quicker.
Poor Diet: Your hair needs a balanced diet that provides all the vitamins and minerals. For example, if you are not having enough protein, then it is likely that you will lose your hair. A lack of Vitamin C and iron deficiency are other reasons of hair loss.
Ageing: Hair loss is also associated with ageing. Nearly all people experience hair loss when they get older. Especially for the people at their 50s or 60s, it is common to see hair loss.
