Ignacio suffered from a receding hairline, specifically in the frontal and temporal regions, as a typical Norwood Scale 2 androgenetic alopecia, While the overall hair density on his scalp remained unchanged, the early signs of recession were enough to affect his appearance and self-esteem.

Solution

After consulting with the surgeon, they decided on Direct Hair Implantation (DHI). This method is mostly preferred in patients with localized hair loss because it allows for the precise placement of hair follicles into the thinning areas.

During Ignacio’s procedure, 3000 grafts were harvested from the occipital donor area, which had strong hair follicles. Each graft was carefully implanted into the target area considering the angle, depth, and direction of the existing hair. This approach guarantees a flawless integration with Ignacio’s natural hairline.

Post-operative care was discussed in detail during the checkup to give Ignacio some information on how to look after the donor and recipient areas. The patient was prescribed antibiotics and supplements to prevent infection and enhance hair growth.

This case highlights the effectiveness of the DHI technique in treating early-stage androgenetic alopecia, particularly for patients with a receding hairline and minimal balding areas.
